HTC Desire V is not a neutered dual-sim phone. The new HTC Desire V Bluetooth is a standard for secure wireless data transfer between various devices of different types over short distances

I’ve been using it for two weeks, it’s quite impressive, because before that I had the simplest mobile phone from which I could only make calls and send SMS. I have never worked with android or even seen it, but I mastered absolutely everything in a couple of days. At first impression it seems that there is a lot of incomprehensible things here, but it turns out that everything is as simple as shelling pears. The first day was nerve-racking, because the phone kept getting online every time I opened an application and wanted to register somewhere, but I refused everywhere. Then SIM card number 1 stopped being read after a couple of hours of work, but I pulled it out, moved it right in the connector and there was no more such problem. Then, of course, it took a long time to get used to the sensor and entering text from the screen - so it only reacts to finger presses and sometimes errors are possible, but the smart machine itself immediately offers to correct for possible options and you get used to it, I just saw on other sensors you can also press with the stylus and press with a fingernail, but this one only understands his fingers, but oh well, it doesn’t matter. Next, for the first couple of days I charged the battery 2 times a day, because I was sitting with the phone all the time, but having gotten used to it and starting to use it as usual, I was pleasantly surprised that the charge confidently lasted for 3 days, taking into account the fact that I communicate on the phone a little, in total 10-20 minutes, but I also spoke for 3 hours and it was fine, in general, now I’m calm. The screen is cool, bright, the graphics are pleasing, the only thing is that it’s not convenient for me to hold it in one hand when typing and I have to press the virtual keys confidently and at the right angle, and if I reach for the periphery, I may not be able to press it, but I got used to all this right away and I will say that you shouldn’t think anything bad about this. The sound is weak, but also for those who find fault, it annoys me a little, because I’m used to loud calls, the vibration is good, it reads all the movies and music, there is a radio, but in headphones. To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with the headphones - like they came from the market for 150 rubles, they don’t play cleanly, with noise, but it’s also not a problem, since I have expensive, good ones. All Internet communications, Wi-Fi, bluetooth. Mobile Internet))) before I forget - it’s a big inconvenience that this device does not have a normal call log, like on regular phones. Yes, you can find out the time of the call, but the duration. The total duration and similar parameters of the call are hidden in such a jungle that it is very, very inconvenient to use. It doesn’t glitch, it doesn’t slow down, it works adequately. I pasted a film on the panel, although the sellers said that there was tempered glass and nothing would happen to it, yeah, thanks... 200 rubles is not a pity for this. The camera is good, not a fairy tale, but not bad, the flash is bright and takes photos quickly and conveniently. Photo album - it's very nice to flip through the photos with your finger. I downloaded a bunch of free programs from the Android market - all of them are good and significantly expand the capabilities of the device. The final impression is that I’m happy with the purchase, I don’t know how long it will last and whether it’s worth the money. But I found everything I needed in this model and I don’t regret buying it.

Information about this smartphone appeared long before it entered the market, which is not surprising since HTC had never released dual-SIM devices before. The manufacturer tried to prepare fans of the brand for a new direction.
On paper, the characteristics of the HTC Desire V looked quite decent, but the picture was spoiled by the prohibitive high cost. While DualSIM, which had similar characteristics, cost about $250, HTC was asking $150 more. Is it about the brand or is it not just about the manufacturer and does Desire V have a number of other advantages?

Design and ergonomics

The device is easily recognizable by its characteristic HTC design elements. Rounded corners, smooth lines and a protruding bottom, like in , HTC Legend and . It is strange that in order to attract attention to the device, the developers abandoned the use of red elements, as, for example, in . There is no polycarbonate or metal in it, everything is as simple as possible, but tasteful. Taking it in hand, it is unlikely that anyone will have a feeling of cheapness.

The main part of the front panel is covered with tempered glass. Hidden under it in the upper part of the body are a proximity and light sensor, as well as an event indicator. There is also a small slot for the earpiece. The central part is occupied by a TFT display.

At the bottom there are three touch keys - “Back”, “Home” and “Running Application Manager”. The keys are easy to operate blindly thanks to the small protrusion at the bottom of the case. In fact, this protrusion is flush with the main part of the body, but due to the notch between the touch keys and the bottom end, a deceptive impression of a bump is created.

As with most other HTC smartphones, controls and interface connectors are located in familiar places.
On the left side you can see a MicroUSB connector, on the right there is a double volume button.

The conversational microphone is located at the bottom end, and the 3.5 mm jack and the power/lock button are at the top end.

With the exception of the power button, the user should not have any complaints about controlling the device. As for the button, it would obviously do well to have slightly sharper corners or protrude above the body a fraction of a millimeter more. It is not always possible to feel it blindly and get tactile feedback when you press it.

The back side, also known as the removable panel, is made of soft-touch plastic. The placement of the elements suggests that the smartphone should be associated with a digital camera - the area around the lens, as well as the HTC inscription, are located vertically. In addition to the mentioned elements, there is a Beats Audio logo on the back side, which indicates the presence of appropriate equalizer settings in the music player. To the left of the logo there is a scattering of holes for a multimedia speaker.

Whether you noticed or not, not a word was said about where the recess for removing the back panel is located, and all because it simply does not exist in the HTC Desire V. Therefore, each user will determine their most convenient opening method. Based on personal experience, let’s say that for us this was the method in which we separate the main unit and the removable cover in the area of the right corner of the upper end. By removing the cover, the user has access to two slots for SIM and memory cards. The first two are located symmetrically to each other, and the memory card slot is at an angle of 90º to any of the SIM cards.

As in the HTC Sensation, the removable panel is something in the form of a cradle into which the smartphone is installed.
In addition to the slots, the user has access to a battery with a fairly large capacity as for dual-SIM smartphones - 1650 mAh or 6.27 Wh.

After more than two weeks of active use of the device, its body left behind ambivalent impressions. On the one hand, there are high-quality materials, on the other, there are creaks in almost all its parts. Perhaps this is due to the fact that our HTC Desire V was in the hands of a large number of people who hardly treated it as their own. Therefore, we cannot be one hundred percent sure that this problem is present in commercial copies.

Interface and software

Compared to last year, in 2012, HTC's activity has clearly decreased, primarily in terms of the number of announced flagships. This allowed the developer to focus on adapting the software, in particular, releasing all new models on the latest Android 4.0. Perhaps this parameter is the main advantage of HTC Desire V over similar products. A few weeks ago we reviewed the Acer Liquid Galland Duo smartphone, which also runs Android 4.0 and even surpasses the review hero in terms of technical parameters. However, there are a considerable number of buyers loyal to HTC who are ready to give their hard-earned money just for the presence of HTC Sense. This model has HTC Sense version 4.0, so most of the delights present, for example, in the HTC One X or HTC One S, are also here.

I wouldn’t like to repeat myself once again about the capabilities of HTC Sense 4.0, so we invite readers to familiarize themselves with reviews of the HTC One line using text and video reviews as an example.

Video reviews of HTC smartphones: ,

But we will dwell separately on the principle of working with two SIM cards.
To configure the operation of SIM cards, there is a separate menu, which does not have many options, for example, in devices with MTK processors, the menu is more convenient and allows you to configure everything in one place.

In the case of HTC Desire V, the user is given the opportunity to select the priority and change the name of the card, which can hardly be called a popular functionality. But you cannot specify which SIM will be used by default for calls and messages, only for accessing the network, while when sending messages or dialing a number, two icons are displayed - SIM 1, SIM 2.
When viewing the call list, a number is indicated next to the name or phone number indicating which SIM was used.
A similar scheme is used when working with messages.

As for the simultaneous operation of two SIMs, this is only possible in standby mode. But in the smartphone there are no restrictions for the second SIM card if the first one is used to access the Internet. You can call both the active card and the one that is in standby mode. Well, for those who want to always be in touch, we recommend setting up call forwarding from one operator to another.

Platform

Readers' interest in the HTC One V model exceeded interest in the flagship HTC One X several times, although the characteristics of the most affordable model in the One line are far from the most advanced. Manufacturers produced smartphones with such characteristics back in the second half of 2011. Wanting to make extra profit by using cheaper components, HTC Desire V was equipped with a slightly improved MSM7227 processor from Qualcomm. Improvements have affected the processor architecture, now it is ARMv7, and its frequencies, 1 GHz versus 600 MHz.
There is no need to talk about any performance. The speed of the interface leaves much to be desired, this is especially noticeable when you are trying to do something quickly, switch between running applications or launch a new one, etc. Therefore, you need to approach the purchase of HTC Desire V consciously, understanding that this is not a device on which it will be comfortable to play games or watch videos.

Despite the fairly capacious battery, it was not possible to break the records set by LG's dual-sim batteries. Nevertheless, the results are quite good and with a typical operating scheme - several tens of minutes of calls, sending SMS and receiving mail via Wi-Fi, you can quite count on two days of work.

Display

The smartphone has a TFT matrix with a resolution 800x480 pixels And 4" diagonal. The image quality is average, the impression is spoiled by horizontal viewing angles, at which colors become washed out. This is not conducive to using the device as a portable video player. As for the other parameters - brightness, contrast, behavior "in the sun", picture clarity - things are going well with them, and the screen diagonal does not go beyond what is reasonable, maintaining a balance between convenience and comfort.

Camera

Many readers know that in 2012, HTC decided to improve and began equipping their smartphones with decent cameras. Compared to them, Desire V looks like a guest from the past. Quality 5 MP photos are average or below average, but the manufacturer managed to implement high, as for the Adreno 200 graphics core, resolution of recorded video - 800x480 pixels at 20 frames/s, while analogues are only capable of VGA. The video quality is also far from ideal, and is only suitable for shooting in good lighting.

Results

By releasing HTC Desire V, the company hoped that among potential buyers of dual-SIM smartphones there would be a large number of people who were waiting for a similar product from HTC. This is wrong. A large number of billboards should convey to people the information that it is now possible to purchase a DualSIM from their favorite company. In fact, the medal has two sides. On the one hand, yes, the company has expanded the circle of buyers, but on the other, this means that HTC is looking for any ways to make money, and accordingly, it is falling in the eyes of those who value smartphones of this brand for a certain inaccessibility. This is where Cost should come into play. At the time it went on sale, the price of the smartphone was $150 higher than similar products, and yet most users of this class of devices buy them not because of a good life, but because of the need to save money. In the case of Desire V, there can be no talk of any savings, because few people would think of paying $400 for a smartphone in order to save on phone calls or Internet access. As a result, a paradoxical situation arose when a device that was intended as a means to save money costs much more than its classmates. And now, a few weeks after the start of sales, HTC Desire V can be found for a much more “down-to-earth” price of 2800-3000 hryvnia. This means that until the appearance of the main competitor in the person of Acer Liquid Gallant Duo, the smartphone will not have direct competitors among first-tier manufacturers. In addition, in a month, several more manufacturers will present their new dual-SIM devices running Android 4.0, including Samsung, LG, Fly. So the battle promises to be interesting. In the meantime, HTC Desire V remains the only candidate for purchase for those who are not ready to switch to Chinese products and are saving not on costs, but on free space.

Review of the HTC Desire V smartphone: sit down, two

In Taiwan, it is considered normal for a person to carry two mobile phones: one for business calls, the other dedicated exclusively to relatives and family. Of course, there are also “dual-SIM” devices on sale, as well as three-, four- and even five-SIM ones - with them you can afford to create separate numbers for your boss, friends, wife, lover, and one more specifically for spam SMS.

“It can’t be!” I just wanted to scream when I saw the announcement of HTC Desire V. But it’s true, the Taiwanese manufacturer has actually released an Android smartphone with support for 2 SIM cards. In addition, the device has good software and hardware, and is also one of the latest in the Beats Audio line.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Design and Features

As usual, let's start with the exterior. The Desire V's dimensions are average by the standards of modern devices and even, probably, compact for the available functionality. In numbers it is 118.5 x 62.3 x 9.32 mm and 114 grams. Due to this, its small thickness and rounded corners, the smartphone fits well in the palm of your hand and is comfortable to use. Desire V has some individuality, and it is not lost among the diversity of even its brothers. At the same time, the familiar lines have not disappeared anywhere: this is a fancy bend under the control keys, the familiar edging of the front panel and the type of mechanical keys, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The body materials are a symbiosis of metal and plastic. The rear panel is a soft-touch boat, although it is not body-forming, but has an impressive “weight” among the elements. Next comes the edging of the front and side surfaces, which constitutes a kind of stiffening rib. The design is crowned with “glass” (Gorilla Glass) to protect the display and “surrounding areas”. As you can see, the color of the case is calm and even strict, the assembly is solid, but the device is not perceived as overly serious.

The design elements are standard and laconic: at the junction of the front panel and the edging at the top there is an inverted trapezoid of a conversational speaker, in the recess of which a mesh is hidden. A little lower on the right is an operation indicator, invisible when inactive. Under the display there is a block strip of touch control keys: “back”, “home” and “list of running applications”, with good typing responsiveness and moderately bright white backlighting.

The Desire V display itself is a 4” Super LCD matrix with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The picture quality is good, the clarity is high, the colors are saturated, and the brightness is generous. Capacitive technology and multi-touch support for up to 4 simultaneous touches showed their worth during testing - according to these parameters, there are no complaints about the screen. Alas, the behavior in the sun is depressing - the screen fades a little more than completely.

The left side of the device is given over to housing only the micro-USB interface connector, which is shifted upward from the center and does not have any protective cap. The right one is similar, under a thin volume rocker, in approximately the same place. The bottom has only a microphone hole, and the top is the most saturated: there are 2 elements - a 3.5mm audio jack on the left and a power button in the center.

On the back panel, elements are grouped on the left side: the camera and flash console are on top, and the call speaker perforation is on the bottom.

By prying a fingernail or, for example, a knife blade into the slot of the rear panel boat, we can remove it by snapping off the fastening lugs. Inside we have a battery (1650 mAh) in the corresponding recess and a card area. The SIM card compartments are located back to back and look like trays with fixing U-shaped brackets above them. The main, 1st card is hidden under the camera console and is difficult to access (probably the manufacturer believes that the user will only change the 2nd card and that one not often). The microSD card compartment is located perpendicular to the SIM cards and has a similar shape without a slide. Let us note an interesting feature that emerged as a result of testing: when putting on the back casing of the smartphone, it’s not exactly possible to bend the contact pad of the power key, which makes it stop working correctly. We don’t think you You will be removing the cover so often, but it’s worth warning.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: User interface

The smartphone has relatively fresh, but not the latest software installed: Android 4.0.3 and the proprietary Sense 4 shell. We have already looked at this in the “One” line, there is no particular difference with Desire V in this case. We still have the same colorful lock screen interface with an unlocking ring and frequently used applications, five customizable desktops without circular scrolling, and a notification area bare against the Gingerbread background. However, from the manufacturer you will get colorful widgets, an untouched manager of previously launched applications, one design theme and many background images.

The main menu of the page type and matrix view still supports various types of sorting, and the tabs at the bottom will make it easier to navigate through the variety of applications. The settings menu is made in a vertical list and is not much different from that in the bare OS.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Dual SIM

The service for simultaneous operation of two SIM cards is organized competently. To begin with, we note that when installed in card slots, configuration is offered (hot swapping is possible). The general item in the network manager will allow you to tap to activate and deactivate one of the cards, as well as select the name and preferred network. Note that slot two does not support 3G, and there is only one radio module: when working with the first card, you cannot reach the second one. In familiar applications such as dialer and sms, a second button appears that allows you to select a sending provider, and the indication in incoming events is a number to the left of the subscriber.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Telephone service

The dialer keyboard is familiar, the keys are comfortable to use, and above it appears either the address book or recent calls, depending on whether there were calls. Call filtering is also provided, but there is no separate application for them.

As before, the address book requires filling out the maximum number of fields and synchronizing with various accounts: nothing extraordinary, but for fans of the system, the ease of updating the book comes down to synchronization with a Google account.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Messages

SMS and mms are grouped by addressee/number and inside they represent a sheet of correspondence clouds. The design principle is also simple: the text input window is at the bottom, and the main screen field is reserved for dialogue. The settings are, as always, extensive, the options for adding content are maximum, and the transformation of types is automatic.

The email client is easy to set up; typical providers already have the necessary parameters in memory; all you have to do is enter your login/password. The display principle is a vertical list, the sender is in bold, and the message itself is in a system font, no more than three rows. The layout is also familiar: to whom, subject and input field. All additional fields are under the virtual menu key. The settings are standard; they allow you to make changes to your account and set up scheduled checks and notifications.

Gmail has its own item, similar in essence, but with its own interface. The distinction between native and third-party clients is standard for the platform.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Organizer, office

The office suite includes the traditional set of applications scattered across the menu. Among them: the Polaris Office office suite, a task list, a calendar with many settings and synchronizations, an arithmometer calculator and a clock that includes world time, alarms, a stopwatch and timers. In general, everything necessary and sufficient is there, and additional programs are not difficult to get from Google Play.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Communications

The device is capable of operating in GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz, HSPA/WCDMA 900/2100 MHz networks (only slot No. 1), has Wi-Fi® support: IEEE 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth® 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. Activation of modules has been removed from the notification area, which in our opinion is strange and illogical - plus one action in the settings menu. The performance of the models is not satisfactory, and for WiFi, traditionally, there is a “portable access point” that will allow you to “share” the Internet from a smartphone, for example, for a laptop.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Maps and GPS

The mapping service from Google Maps with traditional functionality is supplemented by Locations from the manufacturer, a beta version of navigation and a “car panel”. The set is suitable for traveling within the city, but in general we would look for third-party software for these tasks.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Internet

The Internet browser with the Google home page has not undergone any special changes: a traditional working and functional tool with the usual options: bookmarks, page search, desktop version, downloads, history and various settings. Why not immediately install the Chrome browser, available on Ice Cream Sandwich, is a mystery to us. Perhaps it's a matter of status - beta.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Camera

The camera interface has been optimized by the manufacturer for ease of shooting with one hand. Control indicators and settings are located on the viewfinder screen. Despite the not-so-stellar characteristics of the module, 5 megapixels, the personalization of shooting is very rich: from quality and size, to various image sliders, light sensitivity parameters, white balance and effects. Overall, the shooting quality is good, but autofocus is not always accurate, especially in low light, and is also slow. Test footage, we think, will shed light on the quality of shooting.

Yes, the flash function, “flashlight” in Desire V is present as a proprietary “trick” of the manufacturer.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Multimedia

The music service, in addition to the player, includes a voice recorder and FM radio, as well as Internet services: 7 digital, a song store, Sound Hound music recognizer and ToneIn Internet radio. The player has a familiar interface and functionality: it finds songs anywhere (internal memory, card), allows you to sort by tags, and also display a control widget on the lock screen. The sound quality is good, but nothing outstanding, despite the stated Beats Audio™ feature.

FM radio has the usual requirement of a wired headset used as an antenna. Next is the familiar interface and functionality, with Sound Hound integration.

The recorder will prompt you to select the encoding format and location of the recordings, but as before, it does not record sound from the line. The application interface is pleasant.

HTC Desire V:: Review:: Applications

The set of applications included in the basic package is familiar to the manufacturer. Among them:

  • Adobe reader;
  • Dropbox - network storage with a bonus from the manufacturer;
  • Facebook;
  • Flash Player;
  • Friend Stream - social hub;
  • HTC Hub;
  • Teeter is a traditional ball and hole game;
  • YouTube;
  • Task Manager;
  • Downloads;
  • News and weather;
  • The selection is not redundant and quite thoughtful; for the first time, out of the box the smartphone is ready for simple work.

    HTC Desire V:: Review:: Hardware Features

    The hardware characteristics of the smartphone are as follows: it is a Qualcomm MSM 7227A processor with a frequency of 1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of flash memory, plus support for microSD memory cards. The device doesn’t have enough stars in the sky, as can be seen from the screenshots of the tests, but, oddly enough, in everyday life it copes well with the assigned tasks. Those. We clearly did not detect any delays in interface response or hesitation when executing applications. Moreover, in comparison with Sensation XE, which by that time had been updated to 4.0.3, Desire V visually runs even smoother.

    HTC Desire V:: Review:: Impressions and conclusions

    Despite the presence of two SIM cards, the battery life of the smartphone is on average a working day. Of course, you can reduce this indicator by increasing the load or increase it by deactivating one of the cards, but this is not for everyone. The quality of network reception is at a decent level, no failures have been recorded. On the other hand, usually one module in places of uncertain reception usually backs up another (we used MTS and BeeLine), so it was with us.

    The call volume is sufficient for most situations, there are no difficulties with this, and the vibration alert is a good assistant in notification, although the motor is average in strength. The speaker is loud, with a small margin, and there were no complaints about the microphone from the interlocutors.

    What is the result of the above? Apart from the fact that, in our opinion, HTC cannot fully decide on the name of the products and finally let the Desire line go into the past, everything is more than good. A pleasant and comfortable-sized smartphone with a high-quality build from a famous brand, on a fresh OS and with competent development of the Dual-SIM service. With an average cost of 13,000 rubles at the time of writing the review, the solution seems optimal: yes, there are flaws in the screen and RAM, the battery life is not the best, but overall, the overall impression is positive. Having the need for a smart phone and at the same time the need for 2 SIM cards, you don’t really have to choose, and is it necessary?

    It’s not difficult to choose a smartphone for almost any need: you can find fairly productive solutions for little money, super productive ones for a lot of money, good camera phones, tractor smartphones and much more. Essentially, three categories of people will not find an ideal solution for themselves: those who need everything in one device, those who need enormous autonomy (there are simply no such solutions) and those who need a dual-SIM smartphone that is not cut down in everything. But the latter got a pretty good model today!

    HTC Desire V is HTC's first dual-SIM smartphone, but it's far from the first on the market. However, everything that the buyer could afford was no better. Sony recently announced the Tipo Dual model, but even it does not have the best hardware and a very simple screen. And in 100% of other cases, if I'm not mistaken, Android 4.0 ICS is not even close. So Desire V can safely be considered the first normal smartphone with two SIM card slots. After all, there are definitely people who either had to compromise on performance and functionality, or carry two phones with them due to the lack of a normal Dual SIM.

    Appearance

    To begin with, Desire V only comes in a 2SIM version; it is a stand-alone model in the Desire line, which has its own features, including a unique design.

    When I picked up the smartphone for the first time, I was sure that it had a slightly modified case and two SIM card slots, but this turned out not to be the case. The design has been changed quite a lot, but the smartphone has not ceased to be attractive. The case is plastic, soft touch, the assembly is good, but not perfect, there is a slight crunch when squeezing. The design of the case is similar to that of HTC Sensation or Gratia - all the insides with the display are placed in the back cover, which in some places is no longer a back cover. This is practical - if the case gets scratched, just replace the battery cover.

    The smartphone is quite thin – 9.3 mm. Even if this is not a record at all, a smartphone with such thickness looks great and fits comfortably in the hand.

    In general, I liked the appearance, the impressions of Desire V are positive from the first minutes of meeting it and turning it in my hands. I love the feeling when I like something. Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the same soft touch - here it gets very dirty, especially in the summer, when fingers leave fingerprints with special zeal.

    Arrangement of elements

    I liked the screen of the new product. Again, I'm not comparing it to all other smartphones, but to those that I would gladly give up if I needed two SIM cards in one device. Desire V has a 4″ LCD display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. Everyone else has 480x320 and this seems to me to be the main “win” of Desire V. The same screen is installed in and everyone is happy. The minimum brightness is comfortable for working in complete darkness, unlike SAMOLED, but the maximum is clearly not enough for direct sunlight - the picture fades significantly. I was very pleased that there was no air gap under the glass; the picture lies directly on the surface, just like in the new HTC One line of smartphones.

    There is no front camera; above the display we only see the speaker, the company logo and two sensors: proximity and light. There are only three touch control keys under the display, which immediately make it clear which version of Android is installed right out of the box.

    On the right are the volume keys, on the left is a connector for connecting a microUSB cable. The latter did not seem the most convenient to me. Firstly, the fact that it is not from below is no longer convenient, but I rarely managed to stick the cord into it the first time. Probably a matter of habit.

    At the top we see another not very common solution - the power and lock key in the center. In addition, it is not particularly easy to palpate, again, you need to get used to it. To the left of it is a standard headset input.

    At the back, under a large decorative cover, there is a 5 MP camera with flash. It seems that such a design solution looks cool, but the camera itself does not deserve much praise. The photos are of very mediocre quality by today's standards; a good photo cannot be taken even in ideal daylight. The video is even worse, it doesn't even have 720p resolution. The maximum video recording resolution is 800x480 pixels.

    We immediately see the Beats Audio logo and speaker.

    All the most interesting things are located under the back cover. This is where two slots for SIM cards are located: the first is under the decorative cover of the camera, the second is to the right of it. Above these slots we see a place for a MicroSD memory card, and below is a battery with a capacity of 1650 mAh.

    Contrary to my expectations, Desire V has not two, but one radio module. This is a little strange, even the more affordable LG Optimus Link has two radio modules, and for some this will be the deciding factor in their choice. The fact is that with one radio module, during a call from one SIM card, the second one becomes inaccessible. On the other hand, while you wait, they will be able to call you on any card, and you can also call from any card. So this is a very small minus, and given the much higher energy consumption of the two radio modules, many will find the solution in Desire V optimal.

    HTC Sense has added functionality for working with two cards. In the settings there is a “Network Manager” item, where you can give a name to each SIM card (up to four characters) and select your preferred network. When making a call, as well as dialing an SMS, you can select with one touch which number to perform the action from.

    It matters which card is inserted into which slot. So, only the first slot supports high-speed 3G data transfer; even EDGE can only work with a card in the first slot. The second is intended for maximum GPRS connections and GSM communications.

    Specifications

    The smartphone has a Qualcomm MSM7227A processor. We first encountered this in , but here the frequency was overclocked to 1 GHz. Then we wondered what “A” meant in the processor marking and it turned out that one letter distinguishes ARM v6 (the regular MSM7227) from ARM v7. Yes, there may be Flash, and three-dimensional games can be run, but in real life, the processor performance is quite low and you should not expect either serious results in tests or adequate operation of heavy games. Even the HTC Sense interface isn't super smooth.

    The processor is paired with an Adreno 200 graphics accelerator, 512 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal memory.

    This is another strong point of the device; Desire V is equipped with Android 4.0.3, on top of which is the equally recent Sense 4.0. There are both the delights of standard Android 4, such as creating a folder, dragging icons onto icons, multitasking, etc., and the convenience of Sense, for example, quick access to four applications on the lock screen, an improved camera, etc. Unfortunately, burst shooting as in the One line, it’s not possible to take photos while shooting video. There is no Face Unlock as there is no front camera.

    The interface works smoothly, but, as I said above, the processor power is not enough to ensure the same smoothness when performing the second, not even the most resource-intensive task.
