How to make better memories on iPhone. All the ways to create, edit and share memories on iPhone. Saving GIF files to Photos

There are already quite a lot of activity trackers these days: Jawbone Up, Nike FuelBand and others. All of them can record your steps, keep data on your workout activity, and have other useful properties. Perhaps their main drawback is the price (outside America). Not everyone is ready to pay that amount for a bracelet, but it would be interesting to track your actions throughout the day. In case you don't dare to spend money on a new gadget, you can use the free Rove app.

Of course, you should understand that the program is much less functional than a wearable bracelet, and Rove itself was created for slightly different purposes. For what exactly and to whom can it be useful? Let's get a look.

If you often go on business trips or just like to travel, then you probably noticed that your last trip is no longer so well remembered after a couple of weeks or a month. What was interesting during the trip? How was your every day? Rove will help answer these questions.

Launch the application, fill out information about yourself, and that’s it, you can forget about it. Throughout the day, Rove will monitor where you walk, drive, and photograph. Geolocation data will be applied to standard maps from Apple, your photos - from the Photos application, as well as information about “check-ins” from Foursquare, respectively. All this will be recorded in “Lifelog” in the form of a list of events.
We left the house, walked to the store, did a check-in, got into the car, drove to work, checked in on Foursquare again, went to lunch at a cafe, went home - all this information will be displayed in a scrolling feed with location, photos and printed on the route map. And so on day after day.

Now, when you decide to feel nostalgic about an interesting trip that took place six months ago, you can open Rove, select any day and remember which routes you took, what you filmed and what places you visited. In addition, you can separately save your “memories” of a particular day in your life. Your note will be saved as a card with a date on which the route for the day will be plotted with your comments. At any time you will be able to have access to the most interesting and memorable days.

The application interface meets all iOS 7 standards and looks quite nice, except that there is no Russian localization, but this is not so scary, since no special knowledge of the language is required. Of the few settings, only the tracking mode can be distinguished: Saver or Precision. The first one is not so accurate, but does not “eat up” the battery charge, while the second one, on the contrary, more accurately monitors your movement, which affects battery consumption.
Among the disadvantages, we can note the not always correct display of the movement pattern (on embankments it can show that you crossed the water by swimming :)) and the background operation of the application. Even in iOS 7, which allows background running of applications, Rove requires to be running, albeit in multitasking mode. As soon as you try to throw it out of there, it will send a notification that it has been stopped, and to continue monitoring it needs to be started again. It's quite strange to see such conditions, especially after using the aforementioned IFTTT, which does an excellent job with various geolocation-based tasks.

Nevertheless, the application will definitely find its user - a lover of travel and nostalgia for it. Try it, you might like it too.

What trackers do you use? Cronos? Moves? Why are they better? Share in the comments!

Smartphones have given us not only the ability to make calls, but also many other significant options, such as taking photographs. Nowadays, photographs are most often taken using a phone rather than cameras, because you always have a smartphone with you, and in terms of their parameters, the cameras in phones are not much inferior to cameras. The iPhone has a lot of photo capabilities, and one of them is Memories.

It appeared in iOS 10, and immediately won the hearts of many Apple product users. The Photo program automatically scans and analyzes all the pictures on your smartphone and creates a collection of them with music. All this is possible thanks to the “Memories” mode, which appeared with the release of the iOS 10 operating system.

Typically, your smartphone automatically detects the events during which the photos were taken, for example, birthdays, New Years. He can also select photos by type, for example, selfies, with marks on the map, select the best for the year, for the week, select only portraits, and so on. In general, the automatic system manages to select almost all photos perfectly, but sometimes there are small “jambs”.

Many users know about this feature, but do not understand on what principle it works, how to view created clips and whether they can be edited, copied to a PC and transferred via USB to other users. In this article we will tell you about all the features of this mode and show you how to make memories on an iPhone and what needs to be done for this.

From the article you will learn

Where to find Memories on iPhone

If you want to view ready-made versions of the created slideshows, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Photos application;
  2. Click on the “Memories” tab at the bottom of the screen;
  3. Select any created material and click on it to view it.

This is how we described how to view slide shows created by the device itself. But not many users know that you can make them yourself by adding music, selecting certain photos and bright moments from life. And here's how to do it:

Create your own Memories on iPhone

  1. Open the Photos app and tap on the Select tab;
  2. Mark all the photos you want to add to Memories mode;
  3. Once the list is generated, click the “Add to” tab;
  4. Specify a new album and give it a name;
  5. Go to the album directory and find the one you created;
  6. Click on the arrow to the right;
  7. The phone will automatically create memories from this album and add music.

How to edit Memories

Previously created slideshows automatically or by you manually can be edited, for example, change the music or put other styles for the titles, change the inscriptions. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Open the Photos app and click on the Memories tab
  2. Select any slideshow you want to edit and click on Play to start playing it;
  3. Now click in the middle of the screen to bring up the editor.

There are several editing options here:

  • Choosing a mood. Changes the title and background music. There are such options as, for example: cheerful, cheerful, epic and others;
  • Select duration. There are only 3 options: short, medium and long;
  • Additional settings. Click the “Edit” tab in the upper right corner. Here you can change the title, title image, assign completely different music, choosing, for example, from your library. In the same menu you can change photos and change the duration;
  • Once all the changes have been made, simply click “Done” and the changes will be saved.

How to transfer Memories from iPhone

  1. Go to the Photos app and select the Memories tab;
  2. Play any of them and click on the send icon in the lower left corner;
  3. Select where exactly you want to send the created material and confirm the operation;

This completes the export process. The recipient will receive the material in the form of a video accompanied by music. As a rule, Apple devices create high-resolution videos, so the sent slideshow can be viewed both from your phone and from your computer.

One of the main innovations in iOS 10 is the recognition of faces, objects and scenes in the standard Photos program. Another important innovation was Memories. A separate tab in the application that allows you to create excellent photo and video sketches.

What's New in Photos in iOS 10

IN Photo->Albums two new albums have appeared: Places And People. When you first open it, the entire library is scanned. It may take a while. Places were scanned very quickly for me (well, it’s not that difficult, because every photo contains metadata), but People still haven’t.

A search for faces and objects has appeared in the Photo program. Well, Memories have the most important wow effect.

New Memories tab. Now I’ll tell you in detail how it works.

The user goes into the tab and sees several memories that Apple's algorithms decided to make from your media library. For example, “Last Weekend” or “Best of 2015” or “Around the World”... Memories are created based on a certain time interval.

If you go to Memory and scroll down the entire page, you will see three options there:

  • Similar Memories (here you can go to edit other Memories)
  • Add to favorite memories. When you add it for the first time, a new album will appear in Albums - “Favorite Memories”. From here it will be more convenient to find and edit them.
  • Delete memory.

Let's watch the finished film. It will contain both photos and fragments from your videos. It's funny that the algorithms are pretty good at identifying interesting fragments. That is, they can isolate the key thing from the video, for example, a joke.

Naturally, the end result will not suit anyone. That's why Apple has provided the ability to edit Memories.

Normal auto-tuning involves selecting tempo, theme and duration. But we'll look at finer tuning, because I'm sure it will be used in 99 percent of Memories.

Heading– here both the name itself and its style change. There are several templates to choose from – all you have to do is choose the best one.

Music– change the background music. There are both built-in compositions divided by type, and the ability to select custom music. By default, the switch is in the Auto position. That is, the composition is selected automatically.

Duration – by default, Apple selects the duration based on the number of Photos and Video fragments. Every 20-30 media files is approximately 1 minute of memories. But the user can manually set the desired duration. In this case, the program will automatically show more videos or longer photos.

Photo and video – here you can add/remove photos to your Memory. Moreover, the program will display a list of media files, focusing on the dates that it initially set. That is, the “Last weekend” memory for adding will display the photo from exactly that weekend.

The resulting Memory can be saved in the Media Library or sent directly to Dropbox. Other options (for example, Yandex.Disk) will be available when application developers add this feature. The memory is saved as an mp4 video file. The file size depends on the length of the video.

Here's an example of a memory I created in iOS 10 in 10 minutes on an iPad. The video contains footage from our last year's trip on a camper across Europe + a little rest in Sochi. I didn’t sit on this video for a long time, that is, I deleted the frankly unsuccessful shots and added more photos and videos. This is what happened:

What you need to understand:

  • If you use iCloud to store Photos and Videos, then when you edit and create Memories, the media files needed for them will be downloaded from iCloud. This is why the first creation or adding of files may take a little longer (depending on the Internet speed).
  • Memories will work exactly the same in macOS Sierra.

Good luck to all! :) Remember only the good things.

iOS 10 comes with a neat new feature for compiling photos into short movies or slideshows, called memory,The photographs included in these short films are added ,depending on the time and location of their placement. Users can set the mood for the accompanying music and speed up or slow down the transition of photos. If you're using iOS 10 (beta), visit the Photos app and go to the newly added Memories tab. You can see the first few movies that were automatically created. Chances are you're adding up the photos you took last year, and maybe two or three more were created using photos that were taken in the same place or during a certain period of time. However, memories are not all automatically generated. Users have the right to choose which photos should be used in memory and what they should be called. Here's your complete guide to creating, editing, viewing, sharing, and exporting Memories in iOS 10.

Making Memories

To create memories, open the Photos app and go to the Albums tab. Click the plus button in the top left corner and create a new album. Name the album you want to commemorate. The album name and date of photos included in the memory become the initial name of the memory.

When you create a new album, you will be asked to add photos to it. Select the photos you want to include in your memory. You can add/remove them later if you want, so don't worry if you missed a few or added too many.

Open the album you just created and tap the date range shown for the photos. You will see a thumbnail of one of the photos in the album with an image on it. Click it to create a memory from all the photos in the current album. It will only take a few seconds. If you don't click the thumbnail, no memory is created.

iOS 10 won't automatically generate storage for albums unless you specifically tell it to. This is done to avoid unnecessary space. Scroll down to the very end of the album and click "Add to Memories."

Editing Memories

With the created memory, you can change the length, music and photos included in the album. You can access memories from the album they were created for, or from the dedicated Memories tab in the Photos app. Select a memory and play it. Stop it immediately to start editing.

To change the length, use the short, medium and long options. If there are too few photos in your album, you may not see the Medium and Long options. If you want to set the memory length to a few seconds, click the settings button in the bottom right corner. Click Duration and set the memory length.

For editing music, you have three options. You can use one of the music tracks included in the Memories feature, you can use the music in your music library, or you can delete the music altogether. The music tracks that come with Memories are all "mood" tracks, such as "Dreamy" and "Sentimental". Swipe the mood screen to change the music.

To add music from your music library, click the settings button in the lower right corner. Inside, you'll see options for accessing your "Music Library." If you want to delete all music/sound from memory, select "No".

To add or remove photos from your memory, tap the settings button in the bottom right corner and tap Photos & Videos. Use the plus button in the bottom left corner to add photos and the delete button in the bottom right corner to delete them.

View and share memories

Export memory

To export the memory as a video, click the share button in the lower left corner and select the Save Video option. The memory will be saved in the Video album as a MOV file.

Simple, clear, understandable.

The testing period for the updated iOS 10 will last until September. But the new operating system has already been studied.

If we discard all the “embellishments” and cosmetic changes, we can clearly identify 10 main innovations of iOS 10, shown at WWDC 2016. And to make it clearer and more visual, the thematic resource Gizmodo decided to show them in the form of short GIF animations.

Improved lock screen

iPhone 6s/6s Plus owners, rejoice. To turn on the screen, you just need to pick up your smartphone. From a familiar gesture that Apple dubbed Raise to Wake, the display will activate itself, and all you have to do is enter the password...

Or rather, touch the Home key if your device is equipped with Touch ID.

Now to unlock you just need to touch the TouchID sensor. Instead of the usual Slide to Unlock ( translation. “slide to unlock") we are greeted by Press to Unlock ( translation. “press to unlock»).

From the same lock screen it has become much easier to interact with instant messengers and applications.

In iOS 10, you can not only view notifications by dismissing or confirming them, but also bring up an additional dialog box for a response, without having to unlock the device. Support is strictly required for these interactive notifications to work.

And to quickly access widgets, you can now just swipe from left to right.

“Mini-applications” have become much more informative, and each widget is now presented in the form of a miniature block that can be expanded.

The functionality of this menu item is really excellent. Firstly, calling up the screen with widgets has become easier, and secondly, information has become better perceived.

Redesign

The iOS 10 interface has undergone many dramatic changes. Application Music it has become much more convenient and simpler.

Above the news aggregator News The developers also did a good job making it more optimized for the mobile platform.

In a proprietary application Cards We paid special attention to the construction of routes and animation. We didn’t forget to increase the font and improve the interface.

It has become more convenient to search for objects on the map, and it has become more comfortable to use maps while driving.

With the release of iOS 10, the company introduced an updated application Photo. The editor learned to recognize faces and understand in what area the photo was taken. All this is implemented for the purpose of cataloging images.

The function deserves special attention Memories.

With iOS 10, it's easy to make a short film dedicated to a vacation, vacation, or just a day in your life. Select photos and videos that you plan to include in the picture and click Create a Memory. Animations, transitions, voice acting - Memories will do everything for you.

And further

At the last WWDC 2016, the Messages application became the real pride of Apple. People in company love emoticons, animations, and all sorts of effects that brighten up ordinary correspondence.

As a result, after switching to iOS 10, you will be able to draw animated pictures (a similar function is already implemented on the Apple Watch), change the background of dialogues, add stickers, share links and music.

The company got to the engine HomeKit, facilitating interaction with the “smart home”. For comfortable handling of smart devices, she introduced an application Home.

For iPhone owners with 3D Touch, the function of independently adding items to the menu, which appears when you press firmly on the application icon, has become available.

Finally, 9 years after the release of the first iPhone, users can independently.

In a word, Apple did a great job. We just have to wait for the final release to fully appreciate all the features of iOS 10.

Please rate it.
