3. Cut a piece of gauze equal to the width of the paper binding. Place gauze over the joint and cover well with glue. The product must dry thoroughly. For strength, reapply glue to the gauze on the back.
4. When the craft is completely dry, decorate the binding with satin ribbons, small beads, lace, or simply draw a funny design. Hide the edges with fabric strips.
5. Hide the gauze sizing under the fabric strip.

If there are no sheets of the required format, replace the material with notebook sheets. Remove the cover and leave the connecting brackets on the sheets. Next, do according to the instructions.

How to make a squared notebook with a stapler

A simple notebook is easy to make yourself. For example, a new notebook can be folded from double sheets of old notebooks.

1. Collect all the double leaves, carefully pulling them out from the staples.
2. We use thick colored paper as the basis of the notebook.
3. Folding it in half, we connect the bend with the notebook leaves.
4. If the holes from the staple do not match, you can sew the product with a sewing machine. This way you can hide unnecessary holes.
5. Fold the sheets together and secure them with a clamp to prevent the paper from moving.
6. Next, use staples from a stapler to fasten the stack using pliers along the existing holes.

1. We take a regular cardboard folder. Remove the old book cover. Place the book on the folder, mark the size of the future cover with dots, and cut it out.
2. Along the middle bend of the cardboard, we measure in different directions a width identical to the width of the binding of the pages. At this point we glue a wide satin strip with silicate sealant or Moment glue, ends inward.
3. After drying, cover the outside of the base with wrapping paper. Form the corners, decorate them with metal corners using pliers, after gluing them.
4. Using felt-tip pens and a piece of colorful fabric, make an inscription - the name of the book being restored.
5. Glue the cover base to the stack of book pages. Secure the adhesive area with stationery clips through the rulers.

For notebook

Necessary:

• A4 format folder;
• Scissors, glue, small tape;
• Ruler, pencil;

What to do:

1. Place wrapping paper on your work surface. Open the folder at the top. Place the notebook with the middle turned out on top of the folder.
2. Make notations - dots according to the size of the notebook. Draw lines with a ruler and cut out the covers.
3. Glue the packaging wrapper onto the cut out cover from the folder, secure the edges with tape, decorate with braid or fabric border.
4. Remove the paper clips from the notebook and remove the old cover. Mark the future fastenings of the cover with dots through the holes.
5. Use a needle to make neat holes at the level of the dots. Re-attach the notebook sheets with the new cover using the same paper clips.

A very good cover from an old newspaper. This binding will surprise you with its simple execution but unusual design.

Necessary:

• Old yellowed newspaper or book pages;
• Tracing paper, thick paper;
• Colored pencils, felt-tip pens;
• PVA glue, scissors;
• Fabric strip for edge decoration.

How to do:

1. Carefully and evenly glue the yellowed sheets of newspaper onto thick cardboard. Iron through tracing paper.
2. Draw a design on the front side with pencils and outline the outlines with a felt-tip pen.
3. Fold the product in half. Place the book on the cover, bending the ends along the book contour, securing with tape. Trim off excess.
4. If the cover is intended for a notebook, attach it with staples along the line of the middle bend. Trim the protruding edges, decorate the ends with fabric or outline with felt-tip pens.

The fabric makes a good, soft cover. It must be made in the same way as paper, only the ends are sewn with bright woolen threads. For decoration, decorate with fabric figurines of flowers, animals or pen pockets. For a loved one, you can make such a cover in the form of miniature hearts sewn to each other.

* The length of each strip should be such that you can wrap the notebook from top to bottom (vertical stripes) or from front to back (horizontal stripes), allowing for a margin of approximately 2.5-3 cm on the sides of the notebook.

2. After you have cut the vertical strips, you need to lay them flat on the table and press them with something heavy so that they do not move.

3. Start weaving horizontal and vertical stripes.

4. When you have woven enough to wrap the notebook, attach tape to the bottom of the workpiece so that you can bend it in the opposite direction.

Repeat the same with the top side of the workpiece.

5. It's time to cover the notebook. To begin, cover the notebook with double tape.

6. Carefully place the notebook on the cover and wrap it around it. Press well.

7. Trim the edges. You can glue strips in some places (if necessary).

4. Prepare white A4 paper and make openwork edges using a hole punch.

5. Fold the edges of the rectangular strips 2 cm.

6. Glue openwork edges to the middle of each strip.

7. Prepare a large rectangular sheet of cardboard and glue the strips onto it.

8. Insert your passport into the cover.

9. Now you can decorate the cover. It is advisable to use flat decorations that will not cling to anything and thus will not come off.

How to make a cover for a book or notepad

From childhood, mothers teach their children that everything needs to be taken care of. The same applies to books, notebooks and various notepads, which, by the way, wear out more often than usual, since they are constantly in someone’s hands. In this article I would like to talk about how you can make various covers for such printed publications.

Paper

The first way to make a book cover is quite simple. To do this, you just need plain paper. This option is suitable if you need to wrap a school textbook or other literature that very often falls into your hands and quickly loses its attractive appearance. So, you need to take a sheet of paper that will protrude 3 cm from the top, bottom and sides of the open book. If one sheet is not enough, you can try gluing a couple of pieces together with tape. Now you need to make special convenient pockets along the edges of the paper into which the hard book palette will be tucked. First, a sheet of paper needs to be folded from the bottom and top so that it completely matches the size of the book. The edges are wrapped, let's move on. Now the sides are folded to fit the size of the cover. That's it, the cover is ready. It turned out to be a small pocket into which a book is inserted at the edges. Here it is important to correctly calculate the cover so that it does not turn out smaller (it will tear) or larger (it will tend to come off).

Cardboard

The next method is how to make a book cover from cardboard. This way it will be more dense and can be used for years. The principle will be almost the same as in the previous version - you just need to bend the edges correctly. But in this option you need to independently make a double deflection of the cardboard in the center of the book, where the spine will go. After all, cardboard does not bend as easily as paper. To do this, you can use scissors, which are convenient for pressing through denser materials. The base for the cover is ready! Now you need to decide how she will dress for the book. There may be several options. The easiest way is to simply glue it onto the old cover with glue, but this option is suitable if the book’s palette is pretty worn out. And it won’t look very aesthetically pleasing. Or you can make pockets from stationery film into which your favorite volume can be placed. To do this, you need to cut out pockets of the required size and glue them with tape. But bad luck, now the title side is spoiled. No problem, you can just decorate it again. This is done using colored paper, fabrics, ribbons and other available materials. They sit on the glue and create a completely new product. That's it, the cover has been created and is ready!

Leather

Leather may seem very interesting. To do this, you need to stock up on fabric of the required size, given that you will need more pieces to create pockets. So, the first stage in preparing such a cover is cutting out the product. Next comes soaking the skin. This is necessary to make it much more convenient and easier to work with. You will need hot water and a little time (by the way, it is better to take the first steps in the evening). When the skin is sufficiently moistened, it should be removed and blotted with a clean cloth. Now all that remains is to bend it in half to the size of the book and leave it to dry overnight (this material dries in about a day). Let's look further at how to make a book cover. The next morning you can start working again. Using a special chisel (you can also use a chisel for carving), approximately 0.3-.05 cm from the edge of the product, you need to lay a border around the entire perimeter of the cover; there will be a line there, which, in addition to fastening the two parts, will also perform a decorative function. You can carry out the same manipulations on the pockets into which the book will be placed. Now you need to sew the main part with the pockets, for this you will need a sewing machine. That's all, the product is ready. Now all that remains is to dry the cover completely. However, it is important to remember that this must be done while folded so that the leather folds correctly. That's all, now everyone knows how to make a leather book cover.

Disk

Today, quite a lot of people still store various information on disks. But for some reason there are always not enough covers for them. This situation is easy to fix; you can just do them yourself. There are several ways to make a CD cover. You will definitely need paper for this. It needs to be cut in a long strip, leaving allowances for bends of approximately 2-3 cm on the sides. The width of the envelope must correspond to the size of the disc, then it will not fall out of its cover. Now you need to bend the paper along its length so that one side remains a little longer, because you also need to make a kind of lock. It is worth noting that the final product will look like a regular postal envelope. The sides of the paper are glued together, and the remaining top is folded so that the cover can be closed, as it were. That's all, the disk will be stored securely. However, there are also special programs for making CD covers. But there is a nuance here: such a cover will be beautiful, bright, it can be printed and cut out, but it will not protect the disc from unnecessary scratches and other damage.

Album

You can also try to figure out how to make an album cover. If a person really loves to draw and has created real masterpieces in his album, why not make his cover beautiful? For this you will need cardboard, padding polyester and fabric. The cover will be soft! Cardboard and padding polyester must be cut exactly to the size of the album, but for fabric allowances of approximately 3-4 cm should be made. The soft part is glued to the top of the cardboard (for reliability), and everything is wrapped in a piece of the selected fabric. You can also attach it with glue or double-sided tape. This should be done with two sides, the front and back of the cover. The product is ready, all that remains is to fasten it. To do this, the parts can be placed on glue or stitched on a sewing machine (if the cardboard is not too thick). First you need to fold the cover so that the album opens easily. Well, you can decorate your product with both various applications and rhinestone beads. If you wish, you can make a string for the album.

Diary

The master class “How to make a diary cover in scrapbooking style” may seem interesting. For this you will need a plastic base, paper for watercolors, clippings from books or newspapers, as well as old atlases, notebooks and printouts for decoration. First, the plastic base needs to be cut to the size of the diary and folded in the center so that the cover looks natural when closed. Next, using used but still wet paper, you need to age the paper (pressing the bag against the paper over the entire sheet). Light brown spots should appear. Now everything is dry. After this, you can slightly scorch the edges of the cover with a lit match to create the effect of a discarded manuscript rescued from the fireplace. Next, the paper is tinted; for this, paint is applied to a piece of foam rubber and small prints are made along the entire perimeter of the product. Decorative blanks are also tinted. Now you need to glue all the prepared parts onto the cover. By the way, it is better to use glue for this rather than glue, so the paper will not look warped, but will remain smooth.

Notebook

You can also try to figure out how to make it with an interesting newspaper print. To do this, you will need thick drawing paper (not cardboard!), an old but not worn newspaper, as well as stationery. First, four main parts are cut out of paper, equal in size to each other and slightly larger than the notebook (about 5-7 mm) and one strip, which will be attached to the fold of the notebook at the back. All parts are glued together so that there is a gap of approximately 1 mm between them. This can be done using regular tape. First, two identical parts are glued in a row, then a strip on the bend, and again two identical parts. Now along one side of this “locomotive” you need to place strips of double-sided tape quite thickly, and the newspaper is immediately glued to them, bending a little at the edges. Next, you need to glue two identical parts on each side so that there remains a pocket into which the notebook will fit. To do this, you can first prepare small strips of drawing paper, this will be more reliable. After all, if you glue the product onto a newspaper, it can quickly tear and the cover will be irrevocably damaged. Now you need to insert the notebook into the cover and put it under a press overnight. In the morning everything will be ready, and with such a notebook you can easily go to school. And a newspaper print will not reveal to anyone the secret for what subject this notebook is used.

If you like all kinds of beautiful notebooks, notepads, with unique content and interesting covers, then perhaps you should think about creating such a thing yourself. Ideally, you will need a color printer, you can try to come up with a design in black and white, you can create a design (or download it - we will give a link to the first version of such a design just below) and print it in a printing store, in a printing house. Perhaps your library has a color printer. The main thing here is to set the printing settings correctly (they are indicated in the news with the notebook design option). Also, ideally, you will need a sewing machine, but if you don’t have one, you can use an awl, thread and a needle, but you need to do this very carefully (for our little visitors only with the help of adults).
So, you will need two types of paper - one simple office paper, and the other, depending on what is available - the main thing is that it is not too thin. Matte photo paper will do.

There are markings on the layouts - a central line both on the cover and on the pages, it will help you do everything neatly. If there are not many leaves, then it is convenient to sew this line on a sewing machine. It is important to make an indent from the edges of the paper, laying a line, 1-1.5 cm, under the trim.
Note (on the layout of the Ever After High pages, the dark central line does not extend along the entire height; before stitching, it is better to carefully continue it along a ruler with a pencil to make it easier to sew. But you need to stitch along the height of the entire colored part of the sheet, you will need to cut off the white edges)

You can also sew a notebook using an awl and thread with a needle. We bend the stitched notebook in half.

And leave the fold under the clips for a while.

Now all that remains is to trim it. For such a small thickness it is very easy to do it yourself using a knife and a metal ruler. If this is difficult, then any printing house has a cutter and, most likely, they will not refuse you help.

It often happens that you no longer like a notebook you once bought and don’t want to use it, so it lies gathering dust somewhere on a shelf and no one remembers about it. It's a shame when useful things go to waste. Today I want to tell you how to make a new and useful notebook out of a boring or disliked notebook. After such an “upgrade”, the notebook will definitely be used for its intended purpose and will become one of your favorites.

Materials you will need for work:
A notepad or old notebook for repurposing.
A sheet of white office paper.
An old magazine that has been read and looked at for a long time, so that it would not be a pity to cut it.
Scissors.
Ruler.
Pen or pencil.
Paper glue.

First, we need to “cover” the old, unsightly cover of a notebook or notebook. We do this using a white sheet of paper. We cut out a rectangle or square from it, which will be the same size as the cover of our notebook or notepad.

Glue a white sheet of paper onto the cover of the notebook. Now we need to draw the sheet so that we get identical triangles, which we will fill with magazine clippings. First, we draw the sheet with horizontal stripes that will divide it into three parts. Then we begin to mark the corners of the triangles. On the lower vertical edge we mark the width of the triangles from beginning to end. On the second vertical strip from the bottom, we start with half of the triangle and then further mark the dimensions of the width of the triangle. When all the triangles are outlined, we begin to draw. You should end up with markup that looks something like this.

We mark the pictures we like from the magazine in the same way. Cut out the triangles drawn in the magazine.

Now comes the most interesting stage of remaking the old notebook. We begin to assemble our colored mosaic. We insert the triangles randomly so that the pictures do not repeat and are assembled into a diverse, bright mosaic. We insert the halves of the triangles into the outer semi-triangles, which are outlined on the cover.

Carefully glue all the parts together. We glue all the corners well so that the cover does not come unglued during use. The result is such a bright and cheerful cover.

For reliability and confidence that the triangles will not begin to peel off over time, you can carefully laminate the cover with regular cling film. In the process of such lamination, you must be very careful, since the film is very delicate and sticky, and quickly forms unsightly folds. However, it is quite possible to do this. The main thing is to apply the central part of the film and carefully level it in all directions from the middle.
In exactly the same way, you can decorate the cover with plain colored paper, creating multi-colored triangles on the surface. Experiment and don’t let things that are useful but just not to your liking go to waste. Give them a second life, let them bring you benefit and pleasure!
