The best shooters for PC. The Golden Mean: Shooters for medium-sized PCs. Series of games "Battlefield"

Taking into account the PC configuration, games are most often divided into projects for weak and powerful computers. But what about those PC owners whose machines do not meet either of these two standards? Those whose computers are capable of something more than running a 15-year-old action game with terribly outdated graphics and unremarkable gameplay, the power of which, however, is not enough to run modern shooters at top settings?

There is a solution - just take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the contents of this collection, in which we have collected the best single and multiplayer shooters for PC.

5. Survarium

When the game Survarium was announced by the Ukrainian studio Vostok Games in 2012, many gamers received this news with unprecedented enthusiasm. Of course, it was positioned as the ideological and spiritual successor to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. , and with a focus on online! Explore the “Zone” (in this case, the “Forest”) together with other stalkers, fight mutants, collect artifacts - isn’t this what many players have dreamed of for many years?

In 2014, Survarium entered the open beta stage (which the game remains in to this day), and here the initial enthusiasm of the players began to gradually evaporate. Yes, the developers have released the promised multiplayer first-person shooter with a post-apocalyptic setting and RPG elements, and it’s completely free (however, with a very unpleasant intrusive donation). But the game turned out to have serious problems with optimization, and the careless design of locations with rough animation caused many complaints. Correcting all these shortcomings for too long (and not fully completed) led to the fact that the game began to rapidly lose users until it was practically abandoned.

In any case, this potentially interesting and unusual project officially continues to exist, and who knows, maybe someday the situation will change for the better...

3.Warface

The perfect shooter for mid-range PCs from Crytek, which can be accessed completely free of charge. The game uses the CryEngine 3.5 engine (a modified version of the Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 engine), so it is capable of producing very clear and realistic images even on a medium-configured PC.

But high-quality graphics are not the only advantage of Warface. The gameplay here is represented by both classic PvP modes with unique character classes, and exciting PvE missions available for co-op play. There is an impressive selection of weapons and detailed character customization.

In addition, Warface regularly hosts various in-game events and organizes tournaments.

2. Warframe

A free MMO shooter with an original fantasy setting and a large number of story and side missions available for completion in co-op. Over the five years of its existence, the game has been significantly improved, and now has every reason to be on the list of top shooters for medium-sized PCs.

1. Black Squad

A multiplayer shooter from Korean developers, which is a combination of the most obvious elements of Counter-Strike and Point Blank. In fact, there is nothing new or original in either the gameplay or the setting (the near future with a confrontation between several paramilitary organizations) of this game.

But for medium and low-power computers, Black Squad is perfect. Released in 2017 on the Unreal Engine 3 (still in early access), this shooter pleases the eyes with modern graphics with all the necessary effects.

Otherwise, Black Squad has the standard set for a modern free-to-play multiplayer shooter: a customization system, various firearms, a dozen maps and a couple of familiar competitive modes.

5. Metro 2033 Redux

A re-release of the legendary post-apocalyptic game about underground inhabitants who have made the Moscow metro their home. And all because life on the surface was destroyed by a series of nuclear strikes. And the one that survived transformed into extremely aggressive and dangerous forms.

One of the most atmospheric and exciting games, which revived a wave of interest in the domestic post-apocalypse, which had already begun to fade so many years after the release of the last good game on this topic. In addition to the new 4A Engine, which gave Metro better graphics and animation, the re-release also brought with it a number of game improvements. Including new game modes "Spartan" and "Survival".

4. Far Cry 4

An adventure among the Himalayan mountains, another shocking villain, rich flora and fauna, numerous secrets and side quests - it would seem that just recently all this pleasure was available only to owners of top-end hardware. However, four whole years have passed since the release of Far Cry 4, which means that the PC configuration required to run this shooter has long shifted to the middle price category.

And now unforgettable adventures with plenty of shootouts and breathtaking stunts are available to a much larger number of players. If for some reason your PC is not capable of playing the fourth part, feel free to take its predecessor Far Cry 3 - it will be no less fun. After all, for many it is still the best in the series.

3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series

Over the course of its long existence, the Call of Duty series has managed to split into several unrelated subseries dedicated to completely different conflicts. Their action took place in the past, present and future, masterfully mixed real historical facts with outright fiction, threw gamers to different parts of the planet and even sent them beyond the Earth. And, of course, the Modern Warfare line can be considered one of the most striking and memorable.

Perfect in terms of plot and gameplay, dramatic and unpredictable, impeccable in style and design, Modern Warfare also made a certain breakthrough in graphics with every part. And although today the MW trilogy is no longer capable of pleasantly surprising, its graphical component still looks very decent.

2. Max Payne 3

It is a rare case when the first (2001) and last (2012) parts are separated for many years. As a result, the first two games in the Max Payne series are definitely not suitable as shooters for average PCs - unless, of course, you are a fan of retro games or have a sudden awakening of nostalgia for games of the 2000s. Because although they have no equal in terms of gameplay and plot, in terms of graphics, Max Payne and Max Payne 2 are hopelessly outdated. And only a high-quality remake can help here.

But with Max Payne 3 the situation is completely different: in terms of plot and gameplay, it looks no worse than its predecessors, and visually it doesn’t look so repulsive. In general, Max Payne 3 is ideal for medium-sized computers.

1. Doom (2016)

Doom is one of the best shooters of the last few years, and we recommend it to everyone, not just owners of average PCs. A fascinating story campaign with an abundance of weapons and recognizable enemies, a brutal finishing system, the presence of multiplayer and, of course, gorgeous modern graphics - it seems that nothing else is required for happiness.

And if this is not enough, the player can start creating his own content. DOOM SnapMap will help him with this - a fairly easy-to-learn and flexible editor that allows you to create new levels and modes.

Good evening. As you know, many players are crazy about shooters: you run, shoot, have fun. What else is needed for happiness? To be happy, you need to know “shooting games” that are really worth playing. Therefore, today you will be greeted by the best shooters of recent years! We will try to answer the following question: which shooter should I play?

From a very early age, you and your fathers absolutely loved playing the first Call of Duty games. It truly was a masterpiece of those times, and over time it developed for the better. One of the best parts is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was released in 2009, developed by the Infinity Ward team. It is in it that you can find that very scandalous mission of shooting civilians at the airport called “Not a word in Russian.”

Overall, this game is, like all other parts of the series, a linear shooter. You will have to fight your way through crowds of enemies on foot, destroy enemy equipment using rocket launchers, shoot with a machine gun, as always, ride military vehicles, and so on. As you understand, the game still won’t be able to offer anything new. But.

IN Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has terribly good multiplayer, which can be the envy of even such boring and monotonous projects as Cross Fire (Korean online shooter). Everything is as required: a lobby, a bunch of different modes, raising your level and setting up various “perks”. There are even clans. Therefore, if you have not yet familiarized yourself with this creation, then be sure to try it.

Borderlands 2

If you've never heard of a "role-playing shooter", then you probably don't know what it is. Borderlands and Borderlands 2. In it, you not only destroy enemies by completing missions, but also get experience for this whole thing. Levels, skill development, various superpowers and graphics, which everyone called special - this is our whole Borderlands 2 (and then they explained that the graphics are normal, everything is just outlined in black, a few pixels thick).

One of the most important advantages is that you can complete the game with your friends. Unlike the first part, the tasks have become dynamic, and if, for example, you do not complete a certain task for a long time, then it may fail and affect further progress. Artificial intelligence has been slightly reworked: now enemies can interact with each other, take cover when they are in poor health, and much more. These are great innovations.

The game seems to be made in order to play it with friends or a loved one, since playing alone Borderlands 2 isn't that interesting. But even if you have no one to play with, you should definitely try to get into this wonderful world. Telltale Game (the great developers of Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us), by the way, are creating a game that will tell exactly about this world.

Mafia 2

This wonderful shooter, developed by the Czech company 2K Czech, is a continuation of the cult game Mafia, which players young and old know about. She will tell you about the fictional city of Empire Bay, where power is divided between three mafia groups. Our main character named Vito Scaletta just found himself in a situation where working with the mafia is not only possible, but even necessary.

Compared to the first part, in Mafia 2 has changed not only the graphics and detail of the external world, but also, for example, the combat system has been redesigned (both hand-to-hand and firearms). It became possible to take cover behind walls and other obstacles, and a system of checkpoints appeared. Unfortunately, there are also various types of bugs where people get stuck between doors or obstacles that can be jumped over, as well as graphical shortcomings that allow all sorts of “artifacts” to appear.

The series has not ceased to be a cult even after this, roughly speaking, massive reworking, and therefore you should definitely try to play it. If you really hate bad graphics (which is why you didn’t play the first Mafia), then you can get acquainted with the world of the Mafia with the help of the second part.

BulletStorm

Another first-person shooter that players love because of its interesting approach to the combat system. You will play as Grayson Hunt, the commander of the Dead Echo squad, who is a space pirate.

Secret of success Bulletstorm is that it contains a “skillshot” system. That is, the more elegantly you kill your enemy, the more points you will receive. And they are needed not at all in order to be in some TOP of players, but to improve weapons, buy new “guns” and ammunition for them.

The game is so exciting and dynamic that you don’t even notice how linear it is. Here you are not given the right to choose, and freedom of movement too, but the opportunity to kill your opponents in hundreds of ways and try to escape from a huge ring that sweeps away everything in its path is priceless. The game is clearly suitable for those who just want to have fun and like to play as characters who constantly swear and drink alcohol.

The Darkness 2

Darkness 2 - An excellent 2012 shooter developed by Digital Extremes, which tells the story of the leader of a criminal gang, Jackie Estacado, who is endowed with the ability to use the Darkness itself. Having gotten involved in a large-scale fight between gangsters, it became clear that this ability would be very useful. You will be greeted by a rather big adventure, in which Jackie will meet with someone who wanted to steal the Darkness and take control of it.

Unlike the first part, the protagonist can finally use firearms along with his abilities. The whole world has become more detailed, and therefore you can now throw small things at enemies. You will have to devote time to the light, as it will block the possibility of using Darkness.

There is also a multiplayer campaign, which is connected to the plot of the single game. In it you can play for such versatile characters as, for example, an alcoholic and a Japanese warrior. By the way, you can play multiplayer alone, but then some of the missions will be unavailable. The game will appeal to those who love not just shooting, but also using supernatural abilities.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is not an ordinary shooter, as it contains many pinches of horror in the form of appearing hallucinations and the main enemy - the girl Alma. You play as Michael Beckett, who is a Delta Force operative. He constantly sees hallucinations of Alma, who, in theory, is pure evil. She kills your partners on the sly. Is that bad.

I can't tell you the plot because it's really interesting and exciting. The game seems quite scary, but not as scary as the first part. F.E.A.R. 3 has completely turned into a terrible (in a bad way) action movie, in which there is nothing but the destruction of enemies. The game also applies to those individuals in which you need to use first aid kits to maintain your health in good condition, and this is great!

The downside of this game is that, like in the first part, the levels here are terribly monotonous. Let it be a hospital, a warehouse, or some other premises: over time you realize that you have already seen all this. In any case, this shooter is a must-play for those who want to enjoy not only the shooting, but also the hallucinations of the protagonist. And from the ending.

Left 4 Dead 2

An excellent shooter with a zombie apocalypse theme. You can play it alone or with friends, since the company works well in relation to different modes. To be honest, playing with bots is terribly boring, so if you're going to play Left 4 Dead 2 - then call your friends and start having fun! The second part even has a better trailer.

It seems to me that the atmosphere of the zombie apocalypse is most correctly conveyed here. Regular zombies here are terribly weak, but there are an insane amount of them here. They attack the protagonists in dozens, if not hundreds. You can also meet special zombies who can spit acid, ride on heroes like horses and hit them on the ground with great force. You will have to work hard with them, but with friends anything is possible.

Plus, you can play not only with friends, but also against them. IN Left 4 Dead 2 has a mode that allows four players to play as survivors and four as "super zombies". Only those who approach the battle tactically will win. To all the advantages of the second part, you can add improved physics and textures: everything has become a little more believable. You can safely buy this product for yourself or for a whole group of people at once.

Metro: Last Light

What really makes this game the best is the pride in the Ukrainian developers 4A Games. Never before could we think that one of our good friends (Ukrainians, in the sense) would be able to achieve such heights. It is immediately clear that the company has a great future.

This shooter has only one significant drawback - the artificial intelligence is a big let down. It seems that in one room we have just destroyed more than 10 enemies, but as soon as we enter the next room, we see absolutely calm and unsuspecting enemies. They also expose themselves to bullets. Everything else Metro: Last Light is as good as ever. The most important thing is the atmosphere, which can be felt not only by a fan of the Metro series, but also by any other player.

Even if you are not a fan of the shooter genre and don’t like the subway at all (and no one likes to jostle in the subway), then still help the rising Ukrainian company by buying the game. They deserve it.

Titanfall

Titanfall is an online science fiction shooter developed by Respawn Entertainment. In it you will play as soldiers who can summon Titans - huge robots that can be controlled. The backpack on the back, which is equipped with every warrior on the battlefield, allows you to do tricks and jump high.

Titans have terribly strong armor, but even one person can handle it if they act stealthily. If you jump on the robot's back and shoot the main block, the Titan will be defeated. The one who controls the robot can destroy it if it is about to fail. With this donation, he will not only save himself from inevitable death, but will also be able to kill all enemies nearby.

Among the features, we can note the ability to improve the equipment of both soldiers and Titans. You may also notice that in Titanfall has excellent graphics that allow you to feel immersed in this techno-world literally from the first minutes of the game. Unfortunately, the game does not have any solo company, so it is intended only for those who like to have fun and compete with other players.

Battlefield 3

I know that many admirers of the last part - Battlefield 4 - people will curse me, saying that it is better and more interesting, but there are some reasons why it was not included in the list of the best. At the same time, I’m not saying that the fourth part is bad, no. Just Battlefield 3, I think, is the best at the moment. For now.

Why? For example, the fourth part has terrible maps. You can't think tactically about them; they're poorly balanced. The appearance of these cards also let us down. Do you remember such magnificent maps as “Crossing the Seine” in the third part? And this is just one of the most noticeable disadvantages of the fourth part. Of course, literally in a year it will become more balanced, and in general, in general, it will get rid of noticeable disadvantages, but now it is not the best shooter.

Another negative is that the single-player story is no good at all. They didn’t really work on it: Battlefield 4 is now a multiplayer shooter where the emphasis is on fighting with other people. But when you go into multiplayer, you realize with resentment that this is not what you wanted. That's why Battlefield 3 has a well-deserved place on the list. I am sure that after some time it will be possible to put the fourth part instead.

Black Mesa

Oh yes, that's the one Black Mesa, a remake of a great and wonderful shooter. We released the version in early access on Steam in 2015, and bad reviews are left only by those who do not understand anything about Half-Life and its indescribable atmosphere. But these free developers managed to do everything so that the game was as exciting as in 1998, when Half-Life just came out. Changes in terms of history and events have been made, but they are cosmetic, and if you have already forgotten how it was 18 years ago, they will not be noticeable.

The Source engine performed well: in the hands of Crowbar Collective (formerly Black Mesa Team), it did everything that was required of it. And even a little more. In 2015, Valve itself became the publisher, which, I’m sure, greatly pleased the brave developers. They truly deserve their electronic laurels. It also has multiplayer, which looks just great. Valve's hand is felt.

You must understand that outwardly everything has become much better. People have become more alive, you can meet several women, enemies have also received some changes (for example, in addition to zombie scientists, the game now has zombie guards). So you're not just playing Half-Life with new graphics, but you find yourself in almost a new game with a familiar plot. Black Mesa is definitely worth the money, especially if you're a HF fan. Even after beating the game, you can safely have fun in multiplayer battles, so you won’t waste your money.

Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Game series Many people know Wolfenstein, and the beginning was given to it accordingly: the series began the era of 3D shooters, although before they didn’t look like they look Wolfenstein: The New Order. Previously, I did not include this game in the list, but after the release of an independent expansion, I realized that this matter needs to be corrected. Still, compared to other, less successful shooters, Wolfenstein: The New Order with the expansion looks terribly cool. Yes, and the publishers' assessments seem to hint.

In it you will fight with the good old Nazis in the skin of William Blaskowitz. Addition Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is actually a prequel, and if you want to maintain order (without breaking the story thread otherwise), then it's worth starting with it. Moreover, the addition is no worse than the original. I think that's why you don't need to have it to play it. Wolfenstein: The New Order in my library.

You will have to visit 1960 and stop the Nazis, who had already won the war with the help of the inventions of a certain “Skull”, who is the protagonist of both games. I won’t say what exactly they were up to and why they would create thousands of robots and an army of the walking dead. It’s good that this didn’t happen in the real world, because I’m afraid we definitely wouldn’t have found some Blaskowitz who could deal with such a problem. The graphics, controls, story and atmosphere are all top notch. You will definitely like this shooter.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege

Even though Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege relies entirely on multiplayer capabilities, some destructibility of objects and various tactical techniques, I still want to call it the best. Including, the game has some “single” missions, but it’s hard to call it history. Most likely, they are needed purely to practice before jumping into the world of multiplayer battles, in which you will not be allowed to rest.

There are also semi-multiplayer missions called Anti-Terror, in which you team up with your friends or left-wing players under the same anti-terrorist flag for a war against AI bad guys. This is in case you are not good at playing against ordinary people.

At the moment, there are as many as 24 different operatives in the game, each of which has its own characteristics. They work very well in multiplayer mode, there are hundreds of possible tactical plans. There are even four special forces from Russia. For example, Monica Weiss from Germany has an electronics scanner to detect it directly through walls, and the English action movie Seamus Cowden can please players with a sledgehammer that destroys thin walls and barbed wire. Not bad.

This concludes our list of the best shooters. As always, I will say that the author’s opinion may not coincide with the reader’s opinion, but this is not a reason to incite conflicts and insult each other. Let's live in peace and drink tea together.

We continue the Top 20 section and this time we will tell you about the best shooter games on PC, hardcore, graphic, atmospheric and exciting shooters for PC that are available. And so, the top 20 shooting games on PC.
